Here’s our December newsletter, covering our trip to COP26 and our platform developments.
Hester popped down to the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre for Wood for Good’s COP26 conference. Here she saw some of the timber solutions that are transforming the construction industry. She was particularly happy to see LIGNOLOC’s wooden nails in the flesh. Having spent lockdown removing bent, rusty nails and screws from a rotten deck she hopes to see their rapid proliferation. Reusing wood should be easy. Read more about the day on our blog here.
We have been sorry to hear that some of our members have been badly affected by storm Arwen. By request from one of our members we’ve quickly added the ability to advertise jobs on our listings page.
If you’re looking for available contractors, an employee, or someone to help you with a project you can quickly create an advert. We’ll make sure to get the word out.
Conversely, if you have availability to help with windthrow clear-up, or are looking for work generally, save a search for jobs through our listings page. We’ll notify you when something matches your requirements.
We’ll continue to develop the functionality for this. Please do let us know if you have any suggestions.
In the background Simon has been working hard to optimise the marketplace’s performance. Our Lighthouse (an open-source audit tool) score for Performance has increased from the low 20s to 67%. That’s 27% better than the score it gives Ebay! We similarly have high scores for Accessibility, Best Practices, and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO): 71%, 100% and 89% respectively. Ultimately this means the website should have a better user experience, be ranked higher by search engines, and ultimately bring more customers to the site.
